Vera Marke*1972 lives and works in Herisau and Hundwil, Switzerland. The exhibition features works from the artist’s studio in Herisau alongside works created in the house Dorf 10 in Hundwil, an ongoing research project Marke started in 2020 restoring and studying a listed monument. The work on Dorf 10 influences her studio practice by creating a dialogue between painting in the context of architecture and the panel painting.
Vera Marke teaches painting at the Zurich University of the Arts and was our lecturer during our studies there. After graduating Elvira worked as Vera’s assistant and helped work on Dorf 10. We have remained friends ever since and are extremely excited to end our first season at marytwo with Vera Marke’s solo exhibition.
