[…] While wives began to get rid of the bonnet in the first half of the 19th century, servants in some households wore a bonnet until the 20th century, depersonalising them and restricting their field of vision. The bonnet is a sign of the centuries-long narrowing of women’s lives to the domestic, to a servant role devoid of any erotic agency. All this resonates in Elf Hauben, Klodin Erb’s homage to Margaret Atwood.

marytwo is happy to present Klodin Erb’s first solo exhibition in Lucerne titled Elf Hauben, a brand new site-specific work. Klodin Erb lives and works in Zurich, Switzerland. She has been a lecturer in the Department of Design & Art at the Lucerne School of Art (HSLU) since 2018. In 2022 Klodin received the prestigious Prix Meret Oppenheim. Her last solo exhibition A different kind of furs opened at the Istituto Svizzero in Rome in spring 2023, accompanied by a new book published in collaboration with Mousse Publishing.
